If you have ideas about how we can make our wiki better, have a question, or just want to make a comment, please add it here. Don't worry about formatting your comment "correctly." Just click on the "edit" tab above, put the cursor at the end of the text in the edit box, type something, and click on "Save page" (or click on "Show preview" if you want to double-check your spelling, etc.). Thanks!

Or, if it's easy, just send an email to wiki {{at}} calorierestriction DOT org.

If you pose a question here (instead of a suggestion), we might answer at our CRSWiki FAQ. If you entered a question here, and it's now gone (and, especially, if you didn't indicate any way for us to contact you), check the CRSWiki FAQ!

Hi I have just added something to the Cr vs weight loss page. Hope this is OK. I think there should be a direct link to this page from the main menu - at present there is only a link from the Cr vs anorexia page. I think it would be very useful to have a contribution to the CR vs weight loss page on the lines of - dieters tend to yo yo and most gain the weight loss back, whereas CR practitioners lose weight and keep it off. Someone could also add that rapid weight loss is mainly composed of water and not, as the dieter hopes, fat. I don't have the technical background myself to do this but I know there are those who do! Linda.

Hi - It's me again I would like to see pages on controversial foodstuffs such as tofu, kombu, brewers yeast, wheatgerm - I am sure there are others. And also about unusual foods such as konjac and psyllium. Linda

Linda- Thanks for your numerous suggestions and all your efforts! Our wiki still has yet to attract a critical mass, but once we get there, I'm sure people will start acting on your suggestions. -B

I am new to this site. I was surprised there was no nutritional info associated with each recipe. Also, there were some food items I have never encountered. It would be good to have serving size and nutritional info with each recipe.

Hi,

I just visited your website for the first time, just to check it all out and was alarmed to find several recipes that suggest microwaving plant foods. There is documented evidence that doing so destroys about 97% of the antioxidants in the food -- and I would think people into CR would care a great deal about preserving whatever good things there are in the foods they do eat. Secondly, I am shocked to discover that people that practice CR (some that submit recipes anyway) actually use -- and recommend using! -- artificial sweeteners like Splenda! Don't they know of the many studies that have shown how dangerous these are? They most certainly will not contribute to longevity, if anything. Why not use stevia, an all-natural, safe herb that is calorie-free and carb-free and tastes great? Even Coca-Cola is doing serious research and investment in this herb -- I'd put money on their switching to it from Splenda in their diet drinks soon. I bake with stevia (moderate/good-carb, low-cal, high protein muffins), make lemonade with it, add a few drops to yogurt. It's great and it's actually good for your blood sugar. The Japanese, South Americans and Europeans have used it safely for decades.

Thanks for putting together a nice website otherwise!

Cheers,

Hi, I was just looking at a smoothie recipe and noticed Splenda as a sweetener. I agree with "Cheers" (above). If this is for longevity then no arificial sweeteners should be used. I use Stevia when I can. I have not started my CR journey yet (ordered a the book). It is unfortunate that our FDA does not allow Stevia on the shelf w/all the "poisonous" chemical sweeteners...why?...because it's completely all-natural & if word got out that Stevia was actually GOOD for you then it would put the "other guys" out-of-business. It's all political. To all who care, go to a health food store & use Stevia instead of Splenda, Nutra-Sweet, or Sweet & Low. Stevia has health benefits. Google it & educate yourself. You'll also see the controversial issues regarding the FDA. Stevia can only be sold in a health food store as a "supplement". It is however a sweetener with no nasty chemicals. Thanks. I am anxious to start CR but have a lot of research papers to do. Holly6 ....

I just loaded a suggested logo. It's the Longevity Diet cover with Calorie Restriction on it . . . whaddya think? Dew

Dew- Thanks for your efforts!! Speaking as one of the authors of The Longevity Diet, I am particularly happy about your choice! But it might be too focused on our book, instead of on the CR Society per se. Let me run your idea by a few other people. But the two tomatoes definitely do need to be replaced (in my view). -Brian

I just went to make my first entry, and I noticed that some of the editing buttons that are available in wikipedia, are not available here. In particular, I wanted to add a table, and in wikipedia you can simply click on the table button. There is no table button here in the edit page. Any ideas? Brent

I think the wiki would benefit from the addition of page categories and sub-categories. This will make things easier to find and the website easier to navigate. You could build up a recipe category, with sub-categories for the different types of recipe (breakfast, main meal, dessert, etc). I'm happy to help.

My particular social-sect in the heart of the German/Prussian section of the USA / Michigan area known as the "Thumb" has an intresting diet much like the fabled "CR". This diet has been intrained from birth. We live a long time. It's easy and damn near a twin to your game plan, however, there is a shift in palet. We eat anything...only, just a little. I'll help if you're curious. dwbusch
